  • ST. Pantera revisited:

In one of my former posts, I wrote on Edison "Pantera" Miranda. Its 2 parts and both are there if you go to April 1+2, 2006. A man who says God called him to box. I just got done reading the reviews of his last fight. He had 5, count em 5 Godly points deducted for low blows and a headbutt. I am also told he was hitting after the bell.

        Holy Mouthpiece Batman!

Edison broke Arthur Abrahams' jaw, but Arthur continued, losing a lot of blood and won the fight! I hope Edison does not continue down this road of fighting frustrated and dirty. To see the headbutt, go to www.youtube.com and do a search for Edison Miranda. All Gods' people said Amen.

  • John Duddy Clearly Destroys!

    UPON FURTHER REVIEW!!!

Watching the fight from a closer perspective, I was there but caught up in it all, John dominates this fight. Here is my breakdown of the fight against Yory Boy, who fought hard.

           Round 1 Duddy

           Round 2 Campas

           Round 3 Campas

           Round 4 Duddy

           Round 5 Campas

           Round 6 split

Round 7 Duddy Turning point of the fight, Duddy finds a groove

           Round 8 Duddy

           Round 9 Duddy

           Round 10 Duddy

           Round 11 Duddy

           Round 12 Campas

          So I have Campas winning 4 1/2 rounds, Duddy 7 1/2 rounds

When they anounced the first judges scorecard, who had the biggest   margin between the two, I thought it was even greater. John looked real tired and weak in the last round but it did not matter, because he was far enough ahead,(by the way, John dominated the first minute of the last round which I gave to Campas.) Anyway, John rightly deserved to win. Campas got caught with a left and started to go down in the eighth, the ref called it a slip, he didn't see it. It was a great fight all in all and this is now the second belt for John "The Derry Destroyer" to hold. God bless you John, thanks for the good times!!!

Chet in the backround before the fight last night. The ring shots I took didn't come out because of lighting problems.                                                                                                                                        WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Duddy victorious after 12 rounds!!!!!!!!

It was an allout slugfest which could have gone either way. A fantastic show by both fighters. John will only have this kind of competition from here on out if he keeps winning. Set your dvd recorder when this one aires! The last round was a nailbiter with Campas fighting with everything he had left. I can attest to the fact that John is for real! Let his critics now give him the respect he deserves.

  • mikey accident 025 Today I visited Gleason's Gym. I got lost, but still arrived in the wee hours of the morning. I felt like a kid on a class trip!

mikey accident 024 This is Leon Taylor, Trainer. He greeted me and made me feel welcome. My fathers name was Leon as well.

mikey accident 023 On the left is Harry Keitt, the trainer of John Duddy.Thats me on the right Mike Farnham who is filling in for Chet, who runs this web site. By the way Chet has a tooth infection and may not make the fight! Harry also was a gentleman,  I think we were both groggy and needed a second cup of coffee. Harry told me a number of things today. First he said that John wouldn't be there today (bummer), John had the weigh in today, and would only be at the gym if there was a problem making the weight. Harry said that John was good to go. I asked Harry about those who say Johns' defense is lacking, he told me that "John was fine, everyone gets hit in boxing, everyone gets critized, they even critized Muhammed Ali so..."

Chet had already informed me Maureen Shea wasn't fighting on the card due to some surgery. Harry told me as of this morning, James Moore didn't have an opponent, so he may not be fighting. Maybe I could fight James Moore, look at those guns! Hehehehe.  Well I had a million things to ask Harry and my mind went blank. I hope I get to meet John in the future. Oh, Harry said if John wins this one, he will be on the Klistko card in November. They are not looking past this fight though, one thing at a time.  Good Luck Camp Duddy!

Also I asked how hot was it in here back in August, he told me 10 degrees hotter than outside! He said this fight was not being aired live, but would be on at a later date.

  • Andy Lee wins in 1:34 of the first round with a knockout! Good Job Andy.   Gabriel Rivera had a late replacement by way of Jess Salway (USA), 2-0-1 prior to this fight. Andy was qouted as being frustrated from waiting in the locker room for an hour, and came out swinging. The rest is history.

Two more weeks till D Day!

  •                                  Andy Lee returns to the ring tonight! According to the Irish Echo Andy, 4-0(2 KOs), is fighting again in Vegas tonight at the Orleans Hotel. His opponent is Texan Gabriel Rivera 7-3 (4 KOs), also known as "the little bull". Good luck to Andy! Go Irish!

"To drink or not to drink, that is the question"

The last time and the only time I visited the theatre at MSG for the John Duddy fight, it was a magical night. There was only one problem. Me and my cronies drank all the beer in the house! So, whats the problem you say? The problem is we had to relieve ourselves. Inside the Mens rooms were Men lighting up cigarettes. Now I know NYC passed a law making public venues nonsmoking didn't they? Correct me if I am wrong. There were police/security people on hand to enforce this but to no avail. I'm not talking about one or two people lighting up either. The majority of the 5000+ in attendance were men, and a large % smoked.

I am an ex smoker, 10 years I smoked, but now I dispise it. The mens room was like a fire drill I did in Navy bootcamp, where you have to take your breathing mask off to get a taste of a real fire or gas attack! My chest hurt the next day.  You had to stand in line for this, because as I mentioned before we drank all the beer. Now Johns' next fight is approaching and me and my compadres might get parched. Should I indulge in a frosty beverage, or refrain? I am torn between the two. If I get there on time, and John is the last to fight, I may be there 3 hours, 3 hours without anything to drink? Perhaps I could rig something up in my pants so I could relieve myself without having to enter ground zero. Maybe I could exit the building, run to the nearest McDonalds, use their restrooms and be back sooner than if I waited in line at the Majestic Theatres' Mens Rooms. Comments anyone?
